Clubbing in Tokyo before midnight

a cab ride from a downtown location to a more suburbian location is usually a 10,000yen note, but with 4 people that becomes a more reasonable 2500yen each. Just go with a group and cab it home. Costs a little extra but it gives you the option of going home at 2 or 3 to get a few extra hours of sleep.

Extremely vague, you would need to be more specific to start quoting prices too.

Cab fares after 11 go up by 30%. You pay by the kilometer, meaning the further you go, the more it costs, and its almost 1000yen/km, meaning that anything more than 15mins is going to cost you 10,000yen.

Ok well I can of course only comment on personal experience but a cab ride from Shibuya to Kanagawa where I lived costed me 10,000yen and it was quite a fair distance. I once haggled it down to 7000yen when I was alone and couldn't pay the full price. I guess i define a certain radius outside Tokyo as being 'the burbs', beyond that you're well into other areas that wouldn't be Tokyo's burbs. I'm probably wrong just my 2 cents and experience.

Saitama & Chiba are also considered suburbs and are way further than Kanagawa.

i obviously stand corrected. But I still think a taxi split between 4 people is preferable to waiting for first train or sleeping in a net cafe if you have to work the next day. Gotta pay to play sometimes.
:-)

At least in Osaka and Kyoto they have had some daytime events as well. Many of them are daytime raves in university campuses, but some of them at some smaller clubs, with art performances and stuff like that. You have to do some detective work here - go through record shops, clothing shops, cafes etc and collect flyers, ask your fellow clubbers at clubs when you do go to them, if you have a chance check uni noteboards.. get your hands on magazines promoting clubland (clubjuice & floor for example, kazikazi in kansai area)..
But i still have to say that the best times you have when you do party from 00 to 07 - at least ;) ..warm memories towards maniac love from here as well...

Not a smiley in the world exists to express sadness & melancholy of this magnitude.

Hey, this is actually my first post. Im currently in Tokyo, this is my 6th or 7th trip back this year. I usualy breakdance at Gaspanic on offnights when its not crowded. also at lex and few other random places.

i always hated Vanilla, so many rules to follow. Yea but if your gona go clubbing b4 midnight to hit the train back your prolly gona be out of luck cept for the weekends.

This up comming weekend should be really big tho. I know lots of parties are going on and my friends renting out Lex in roppongi.

But if you ever see a Viet kid break dancing in a club its most likely me.

feel free to say hi.

Club Complex Code (Google it) usually has parties starting from around 6pm. There's a really large dancefloor with a bar in the back, so it has to close at 0:00. But I think they usually keep going for like an hour or so. I really like the music there. The bad thing about it is that it's so loud that you can hardly speak with your friends. And there's not that many people. Last time I went there was like 50, and it was a special birthday party for an event that has been going on for 6 years. But on the other hand, it was on a Tuesday. Some breakdancers and some people playing around with neon sticks or balls, so if you wanna do that I guess it's a good place.

So, where is the best place for clubbing in Tokyo? I am staying in Gotanda for now. I am not into clubbing; but, I want to take a peak at the place somewhere near Gotanda.

well your near Roppongi *gaijin area mostly*, shibuya, and Azabajuban. thats all about 160 in the Jr to get to. Cept Roppongi you'll have to go to Ebisu and transfer to the hibiya line as wel as Azabajuban.

Dead compared to the old days. Passion was a huge party on Fridays. Great one too.

Really depends on what you are after. I bumped into an old friend of mine that did (and still does) organize parties. He's organizing Summer of Love at Ageha later this month. 808 State is playing there (now I feel old)... I saw them when I was in high school!!!
