I'm a bit late for voting I suspect! But I don't like to be left out so ima post anyways!
Both Fruits Basket and Chobits were fairly original and deep storylines, and I loved 'em both! MERVEILLES!!!! <----French-ness
I can't decide, but I think I may have liked Chobits better, especially since the Fruits Basket show never did finish. I can't wait until the manga comes out here in America so I can see the real ending! (in case anyone didn't know there's much more to the last episode of Fruits Basket, but a lot was crammed in) SUPA' EXCITED!!!!

I love Fruits Basket ... as it provides entertainment for kids (loads of funny scenes) ... as well as a kind of 'touch-base' feel for adult audiences.

Uhh Chobits is a shounen (one that leads a bit more to Shoujen, but definately in Shounen territory.)... I don't know if you meant that in your earlier post (as both FB and Chobits being Shounen), but if you are reffering to it as shoujo, its off the mark. The whole series is based upon fan servicing Chii, and every other woman in the series. Man the fact that her on switch is in her bathing suit area (and they deal with it in the FIRST EPISODE) would tip you off that. Then there is a whole episode dealing with nothing else but "PANTSU". Hideki at the start has Four love interests, and like a bad hentai game they get whittled down. The story looks at the technical side of chii, like hacking and her technology, not very shoujen if you ask me.

but maybe you know that already... Im not too sure.

Edit.. IT also has shoujen aspects to it... thats for sure, which make it popular on both sides. I have not read the manga, but the way its represented in the anime makes it very shounen to me.

I think I understand what Noy is saying
Fruits Basket is Shojo manga
Chobits is Shounen. (and at times shojo ai)
It's as simple as that ^.^ Fruits Basket tends to be what girls vote for, and vice versa with Chobits. I voted Fruits Basket myself, it's so sweet! But i'm still a fan of Chobits, don't get me wrong!

Chobits... hm, I only watched about 5 episodes. I didn't really like it.
I kinda like the manga...
But I still like Fruits Basket better.

My vote's for Chobits! An excellent;y done series, perfectly combining humor (Chi's hunt for underpants was a hoot!), drama, angst and sci-fi elements. On top of that, nobody does cute better than the ladies of CLAMP, and Chi is cute to the Nth degree!

I chose Fruits Baskets too, but i'm a girl.
Chobits had a terribly WEAK ending, I hated it (mucho disappointed)
It was sweet...but I wasn't satisfied by the 8th manga...so FRUITS BASKET IT IS!!! >=|

I like both series, but I prefer a technological, computer-girl, sex-on-the-brain-with pudding school comedy over a zodiac animal transformation home comedy any day.
