Hah! Censorship is something of a thorny issue at the best of times ... before you even enter into the differences between what various cultures deem as "acceptable".
As far as the anime was concerned, I thought that Ayame was quite honest about what he did - it might have seemed absolutely terrible to some people (including Yuki, his younger brother). But he explained that he catered to those "secret gardens" that every male customer he had possessed, with the usual abundance of character and complete lack of shame that is so typical of Ayame.
I also quite liked the character who turned into a dog (was it Shigure? I can't remember) - there was this one scene where Toru had forgotten something at school, but he offered to get it for her. You see this scene where she's wondering at how selfless he seems to be, wanting to get her bag for her with no obvious compensation. Then you see him, mincing along with a HUGE grin on his face, chanting "High-school girls... high-school girls..."

Gotta go with Tohru, the star of the show! She was one of the most delightful anime heroines I've ever seen! But, I've also gotta give a shout out to "Electric Girl" (real name eludes me!), I loved how comically creepy she was, especially in one episode when she totally freaked out the Prince Yuki fan club after they came to her house!
Yeah I agree Tohru is one of the better heroines in anime. Usually I can't stand the heroine cause there so freaking annoying. But, Gotta go with Momiji he is so fun to watch, I really like to watch when he's so hyper. Out of Fruits Basket, I RPG Momiji the best. But, I also like Ayame. He's cool too
