I have been told that a single mother in japan can't take the baby home from the hospital unless she is legally married. Sounds rediculous to me but can someone from japan confirm or deny this for me? Thanks canadian dean

Whoever told you that, that person gave you wrong information.

There are many single mothers in Japan and of course they did take their baby home without getting married. (My friend is one of those single mothers.)

Actual its a brother of someone i know that doesn;t live in japan. He is engaged to the woman in question. Apparently he told his family that the baby can't be taken home from the hospital until they are married. They planned to get married anyway so i don't think it was a ploy from her to get him to marry her. I said from the moment i heard about his story that i thought it was bul s#$@%$%^^T hahahaha
