Travel Calling from Tokyo to Philippines via voip app.

Hi all. I'm going to Tokyo for a month in June. I am thinking about using Skype to talk to my family in the Philippines, but I wonder if the connections via Skype are good. Any other cheap voip app is fine. The connections are normally good with Skype, but I remember last time I called my friend in Kanagawa, we couldn't talk at all. Have you had any connection problems from Tokyo?

I think Skype has fair quality in Japan, though. But I don't know the calling rates to Philippines, so not sure you should check some apps out, just in case. There are some recommends like Viber or Global Call blah blah

I personally care the price at most, so I use Global Call. They sometimes have bad connections but acceptable.

Could you give some accurate comparisons in sound quality vs skype or viber?

Yeah, its a new brand. I would say the sound quality from Global Call is a little better than skype, but not significant difference. You can download from Google Play, nothing difficult. I used to use Skype a lot but GC has many promotions and the rates are better than skype.
