Hi
My name is Antonello, and I'm a practitioner of Japanese Martial Arts.
My Sensei, an 83 y.o japanese Gentleman, kindly presented me this calligraphy but, as He speaks only Japanese and a little French, was unable to translate in Italian.
Could someone translate for me please?

I've never seen this phrase before, but found its meaning on internet.

一眼二足三胆四力 means four important points in learning kendo.
一眼: ichi (one) gan (eyes) : the most important thing is to see (detect) opponent's thought and movement
二足: ni (two) soku (feet) : the 2nd important thing is your steps/footwork.
三胆: san (three) tan (guts) : the 3rd important thing is your guts (courage).
四力: si (four) riki (power, strength) : the 4th important point is your strength.
It is not physical strength but the strength of your art/skill.

Now I can understand the exact meaning of that beautiful calligraphy, and I think that the meaning it contains must be applied not only in Kendo, but in all instances of everyday life.....
One more reason to continue to practice Japanese Martial Arts.
