Autumn/Summer/Spring Jobs in Japan

Hi Everyone
We are currently working in Hakuba, Nagano-ken in the Japan Alps but unfortunatly the winter season is coming to an end so we are begining to look at jobs for the Autumn/Summer/Spring Season.
Between us we have experience in retail and the hospitality industry. We have also had a lot of experience working outdoors, with people, children and customers alike. We are both resourceful people and can adapt to any
task handed to us. We are pretty much happy to do anything. At this time we just dont want to teach english.
We know alot of people head to Shimoda and the surrounding pennisular in the Summer, does anyone know of any other popular summer spots in Japan?
Any feedback on Job Opportunities, Popular Summer Locations or Past Job Experiences will be much appriciated.

6 Month Contract for Teaching English

Hello again

Ok to update this thread it looks like we might have come to a deadend with Summer Jobs and will have to start looking into Teaching English.

Does anyone know or has anyone heard of 6 month contracts with Teaching English in Japan? Also if its not possible and we have to take out a 12 month contract how hard is it to break contract at 6 months and what will we possibly lose??

We would really like to come back to Hakuba to work for the next Winter Season.

The only place I know that offers contracts shorter than a year is Westgate Corporation. Westgate Corporation - Portal Site
You need a degree and perhaps other qualifications, though.

Breaking a contract is pretty straightforward. In the first 6 months, you have to give at least 30 days notice, I think (maybe more). After that, you have to give only 2 weeks notice. [Employers will still put longer periods in their contracts, but that is against labor law.]

You're going to need a bachelor's degree or 3 years of teaching experience to get the proper visa. Don't know what you have now.

One of us has a Bachelor of Education and both of us hold TESOL certificates. We are here on working holiday visas.

Would you happen to know when breaking a contract, do you have to provide a reason as to why you are? If so, any excuse you can suggest?!!?
The reason we are wanting a short contract or to break a contract is because we have a job lined up for winter 07/08.

Well, it would be PROFESSIONAL to explain why, but not necessary. Working holiday visas are good for either 12 or 18 months, depending on nationality, so I assume you have a job lined up back home. Just say that. You could also say that the one of you without a degree MUST leave because of the WHV expiring (and the other of you wants to return with the other person). No harm done.

Just realize that you will lose any year-end bonus by quitting early, and that could amount to reimbursing your airfare costs.

You have been a great help - we probably should have explained ourselves a bit better. We have just worked the winter season in Hakuba, Japan (late December till mid April), our plans to stay in Hakuba for summer fell through(because of little work) and we have been offered the same work again for Winter 07/08 (late December till mid April).

Our research into short contracts in teaching is to fill the time between now and the coming winter (Mid April till mid December). Our visas (if we are granted extensions) will expire after 18months on the 14th May 08.

Our main searches for employment have lead us to gaijinpot, jobsinjapan and ohayosensei. Do you or anyone else out there know of any other sites to look into for possible employment??
