I've never seen these, but static electricity is bad for electronics, which can be rendered useless due to static discharge. At electronic assembly plants, people wear grounding straps to prevent that, but I've never seen Sparknon bands before. If they really work, they could be useful in the wintertime in cold climates.

Not sure of the brand, but a couple years ago when I disassembled my older Mac Mini to replace a hard drive and add RAM, I used an antistatic wristlet on one arm, which I touched now and then with my other hand as I played with the components.

If you're talking about general anti-static products, not for working with electronics, there's definitely a market. I haven't seen the bands but my wife used to carry something like this all the time. I think she finds static electricity shocks more painful than the average person. Have you seen the bands on sale in Japan? Seems like something you'd be able to find at Daiso.
