Are most Japanese people OCD?

I think Genski is right.
This smells like a Troll.

Best not to respond ... and like all bad smells ... they eventually go away.

Likely, but it's not like the forum is drowning in traffic so what does it hurt to have the discussion? Perhaps it'll drive more reasonable discussion of life in Japan.

You're right Wonko, it certainly isn't a busy forum at the moment.
My point is that you can't really have a discussion if he/she is a troll as their objective is just to stir things up and keep fishing until they hit the right nerve.
I won't be biting anymore, but I could be wrong so will just bite my lip instead and watch on from a safe distance : P

See this is a good attitude to have. People considering moving to Japan needs to be aware of the obstacles they might face here. I think painting only an unrealistically positive image of Japan isn't entirely fair nor terribly realistic. The simple fact is Japan lived as an isolated, closed nation for well over 300 years. And to be blatant about it... It shows in most facets of society here.

There is a propensity for long-term gaijin on JREF and other similar forums to cry "Troll troll troll" whenever a dissenting opinion is voiced, but the truth is simply that most foreigners don't dare to act different in Japan. Living here in no way obligates anyone to do anything other than follow the law and pay their taxes.

Get a life. People here don't paint an unrealistically positive image of Japan. People will say they like it overall, since many have decided to live here long term, but that is an entirely different thing. The only people unrealistic appearing here are teenagers who've never been with an anime fantasy of Japan, and they usually get informed in a balanced manner. Of course you've been a member for a week, so that's a pretty good sign you're talking out your ***.

Do you really think anyone is crying troll because you have a dissenting opinion? How many posts have you mentioned winning world war II in? In what way is that relevant to living in a foreign country? It's not. It's trolling. I hope no people reading your posts buy into your "I'm picked on because I have a dissenting opinion!" whine. It's pretty sad.

It's one thing to have your bullshit rants about Japan not bowing down to America's military might, giving you the freedom to ignore all social manners. That's why people think you're obnoxious. Of course people aren't obligated to follow custom. It's out of maturity and respect for an adopted home that we do in the cases we do. I would do the same anywhere. It's not unique to Japan whatsoever. But to try to paint the people on this forum as unable to hear an opinion not respectful/worshipful of Japan (what was that phrase you used? "Uncle Toms?" Dumbass)? That's next level bullshit, insulting the people here for not tolerating your obnoxious attitude.

I hope no casual reader considering joining this forum gives any weight to your whines. It would be a real shame. I know you aren't going to take in one word of this, as you've proven in your short time here, but it's important that non-members know what crap you're selling.

I think the fact that you've absolutely failed to redress anything I say, combined with the fact that you've resorted to petty name calling and ad hominem attacks sort of shows that I am in fact being victimized on this forum for my unpopular opinions and also for being an American. Your petty hatred of Americans or America aside, we did indeed win WW2. Some Japanese may or may not like that fact, but Japan has seen a great number of benefits from being defeated. Least of which are the modernization of its economy, Western technologies and a strong military alliance with America.

Were it not for those big bad evil 'Merikan soldiers down in Okinawa, this country would have been speaking Chinese decades ago. " But to try to paint the people on this forum as unable to hear an opinion not respectful/worshipful of Japan" But isn't that exactly what you are doing? Why would anyone need to 'worship' Japan? I really really hope I read that wrong. If you worship Japan... I mean wow. That's just wow.

"Of course you've been a member for a week, so that's a pretty good sign you're talking out your <expletive>"

Uh I've been a JREF member for a week. What does this have to do with my credibility or my knowledge of Japan? Sorry to say this is one more ad hominem along the list. Is insulting other forum members really allowed like this? Mods? I think this guy needs a timeout. If it's OK for one forum member to directly insult another and use curse words to smear his character then please ban me instead.

This guy needs his diapers changed.
