If not...

Can you just let me know if this sounds natural (and slightly formal) in Japanese? Does it have the feel of a public statement on the matter?

As standing for my English:

September 22, 1997.

(This is) a special and a sad day in the history of visual kei, (because) it is the day X Japan announced their disbandment, after Toshi's departure.

I'm not decided whether it's an event I should cover/write about yet. Is it just a reporting of facts? I want X Japan to keep going forever. It's not over yet, so for now I will keep silent...
