Apple CEO Steve Jobs Get Angry in Japan

According to Japanese magazine SPA, Apple CEO Steve Jobs visited Japan on private and via private jet in July, and he traveled around Kyoto with his family. But when he went through security check at Kansai Int'l airport, Ninja Star (Shuriken) that he bought at Kyoto as Omiyage was detected at metal detector and seized. Steve Job got angry, saying "Who incite terrorism on his private jet ! I shall never come to Japan !"

Sorry about that ! but Japanese security at the airport was faithful to his "Jobs".

Very Japanese, I certainly understand his position. I visited a datacenter just after new years for a quick task. They do not allow you to take laptops, phones, game consoles, USB memory or any sort of card memory (which is ridiculous), and they use airport-style metal detectors and a fancy full body scanner to check for such things.... as you leave.

So 5am on cold Sunday morning I go in, dump all my stuff in a locker and walk up to security - and they don't want to check me... I go in, do my work, come back out about 15mins later and I go through security and put my heavy leather jacket through the xray machine and they find I have my spare mobile phone in my inner pocket - completely dead since I don't use it that often. I say sorry about that, but I did want you to check me before going in. I show them that its dead, and doesn't have any memory, but they won't have any of it, the security guard grabs it, goes into the office and shuts and locks the door :auch:

Basically this ends with me shouting for an hour for my phone back, me being ignored by security, and me calling the police because I see this as theft of my personal property. In the end they give me the phone back and I gave them a short english lesson.

In Japan we tend to overdo things. I believe this is due in part to the fact that we have no real military (in name) and many people believe that this is their way of doing their part to "defend Japan." I know it sounds stupid, and it is, but this is the way many people, especially those in the blue collar professions, believe.
