Yeah, I got it from a Chinese/Japanese dictionary. It does mean number.

EDIT:

In Japanese, I think you can read it as kou, fu, sake or yobina although I'm not sure about it...

I remember my friend looked it up and it meant number, but we never really figured out why they put number after '窶ｹﾃ｣' (9)

^ because '九號' means number nine. it's not read as nine number, but as number nine. because when some two words gets together, they have different meanings, or read differently
