Not quite as old , but I'm losing my old cherry tree in front of my house. It's around 50 years old. Over the years , it has suffered several attacks , like a drunk driver hitting it. This year for the first time it had no blossoms and no cherries. Then all the leaves turned yellow and started falling off. In the next week or two , a city tree specialist is coming to look at it. I have a feeling he will say it needs to go. I always felt like I had a bit of Japan on my front lawn when it bloomed.
I've got a variety of tree work to do including taking down an elm that has died on me. It's probably 18" diameter. It costs $3000 just to take down one tree (and that's relatively cheap). It was probably older than me.
