六｢訓讀 muttsu < mutu;音讀 G. roku; K. riku｣ "six," borrowed for the sound of the character in Archaic Chinese from "(the graph of a) mound"

The elementary graph 六 loses the meaning of "mound, land," while the compound form 陸 takes over. They look similar, and sound alike, but usage has divided the two.

むっく-と: adv. (1) rising suddenly; (2) rising into a round surface
むっくり-(と): adv. (1) id.; (2) id.; (3) adequately plump
むっちり-(と): adv. admirably fat

Perhaps these Modern Japanese adverbs preserve the old meaning of 六 as "mound."
Archaic Chinese probably had the intial cluster ML- as pointed out earlier.
Modern Korean /muth/ "land" and /mutom/ "grave mound" are nice comparisons btw.

箕「ky. み; oy. き」 "a winnow for blowing out the shell or husk of grain";

The original 甲骨文 and 金文 character for the classical 箕 is essentially "￣UX" (其) which already depicts the full graph of a "basket" or "winnow." It also gets borrowed for its sound for the 3rd personal pronoun "he/she/it/they," the genetive pronoun "his/her/its/their," the indicative pronoun "that/those," and the intensifier "How ~~!, What ~~!"

Between the Warring States period and Later Han's 2nd century 說文解字, the low table 丌 [ ? : ki ?] gets suffixed, and the bamboo radical 竹 gets crowned on the winnow, giving our classical form 箕, so that we have less confusion btwn the noun 箕 and the pronoun 其 in writing at least.

Often used as a symbol for the constellation the Big Dipper by analogy of form. It also denotes the north-eastern (from central China) Yen region 燕國, the current Beijing area and beyond. Japan would essentially fall in the 箕方 in classical usage.

I just found this; it says "big brother" ﾅ短 (an alternate form) is praying desparately, or prayer has gone unanswered, hence the big frown. But the original 窶ｹﾂ･ could equally stand for an abandoned ditch or camouflaged trap hole. Hence representing bad omen; imagine falling into one of those, more than ouch is a broken bone!

The left is a bifurcated club, the right a hunting dog; to mean "to hunt."
The original sense later taken up by 狩「かる, かりする; G.シユ, K.シュウ」--"to hunt, to collect," while 獣 is reduced to the object of hunting, the game.

献「けん、こん、たてまつる」 present, offer

「獣、けもの」とは、四つ足の動物(イヌやシカなど)の総称(そうしょう)です。そのため漢字の中に、四つ足の動物の「犬：イヌ」という字が使われています。「獣」という字は、人間より下等(かとう)な生き物の代名詞(だいめいし)として使われることもあり、人にむかって「獣」というと、「理性(りせい)のない人間」という意味になります。

「伏せる」という字は、「イ：ひと」という字と、「犬：イヌ」という字でできています。犬が人によりそって伏せるという意味で、「イ：ひと」という字と、「犬：イヌ」という字が使われています。日本では、犬は忠実(ちゅうじつ)な生き物の代名詞で、人にむかって「犬」というと、「命令(めいれい)のためなら道徳(どうとく)や倫理(りんり)を無視(むし)する非情(ひじょう)な人間」という意味になります。

「献：たてまつる」とは、神前(しんぜん)や目上(めうえ)の人に、ていねいに物をささげることを意味しています。なぜ神前や目上の人に物をささげるのに、あまりよい意味で使われることのない犬という字が使われているのでしょうか？じつは、この「犬」とは「動物の肉」を意味しています。西洋ならば神様にささげる肉は「羊：ひつじ」でしょうが、東洋では身近(みじか)な肉として犬の肉が食されていたために「犬」の字を使います。

I don't know if it's allowed in this game, but is using a traditional kanji okay when we're stuck? Please stop me if this is a violation of the rules!

献(simplified) < 獻(traditional); the left component doesn't seem to be an independent kanji, but only exists as a part of 甗｢?;? ｣ - "the yan steaming pot"; it can also be decomposed into 虍｢とら; G. ク; K. コ｣ - "tiger" and 鬲｢?;? ｣ "the li steaming pot."

From 鬲, comes 隔｢へだちる; G. キャク; K. カク｣ - blocked, distant, far.

I don't know the readings of the intermediary kanjis 甗 or 鬲.
Please help me, Nangi-san!
