Hi everyone.

As the title implies, I'm trying to understand the exact meaning of the phrase 薬を買ってきてあげます. I understand the general meaning of the phrase (I will buy medicine (as a favour)) but don't know the purpose of きて. For example, what would be the difference between this phrase and the same phrase without きて (薬を買ってあげます)?

TY.

~てくる implies "to go somewhere to do something and then come back".
e.g.
買い物をしてくる
映画を見てくる
学校に行ってくる

薬を買ってあげます doesn't have this meaning "to go a drugstore to buy medicine and then come back (for you)", so the speaker might just pay for it, and might not go anywhere to buy it.
