文書局とは?

Anybody know what 文書局 translates as?

重要な案件については文書局を担当する役員に経伺する。
Questions over important issues should be addressed to officials of the
[literature office??].

There are quite a few Google hits - but I couldn't get a clear sense
of what it means.

Hi,

I've never heard of 文書局 as a common noun. The literal translation would be Documentation Bureau.

However, the term 文書課 is in some cases translated as "secretariat" （which is actually more commonly translated as 事務局 or 秘書局）.

Hmm, so do you think "文書局" might be an uncommon / mistaken version of 文書課 ?

I think 課 and 局 do somewhat overlap in usage ...

I think it's most likely a proper name used in some organization. If it's not, maybe it's a mistake

I think it is
「重要な案件については文書、局を担当する役員に経伺する」 probably.
or is it a reference room(office)? :

You mean it just happens to be two words next to each other? Well, maybe.

Certainly /some/ of the 1,400 so Google hits are false matches however in this one location it is used six times.

I really lucked out though because it appears that the first time it's used there ...

So it appears 文書局 = archive ... at least as far as IIDA Yosiaki was concerned.
