乱暴( らんぼう) - origins of word?

Hey, im new here. I was learning japanese on my phone (anki - 8547 japanese sentences) and i came across word
乱暴
らんぼう
which to my surprise means 'violent, rude, law, rough'.

So my silly question is, is this related to Ranbo character somehow? I know it would be probably in katakana and not in kanji and hiragana if it had any connection but still, is it just happy conincidence ?

never heard of Ranbo character. Do you mean Rambo?

They sound similar (but not the same) - it's just a coincidence.

Oh right it was Rambo... unless we re taliking Lambo from khr I thought so that its just coincidence. Unless the name is taken from word.

I know it's ranbou 乱暴 not "Rambo" but I always think of the character in the movie because he was rough and violent. It is a good mnemonic though.

Yeah exacly. Even if theres no direct connection its easy for us to learn because of it

I don't think one need mnemonic for this word or most 漢語 for that matter. As long as the pronunciation is regular.

乱暴 is made up of 乱 disorder and violence 暴, which can be further divided into tongue, hook, sun, calm, which can be further divided into thousand, mouth, hook, sun, together, ice.

The pronunciation is standard on-on, the meaning is obvious and straightforward.

syntax consist of all three forms of 漢語 syntax, that is noun, na-adj and suru (vi)

The orthography, phonology, reference and syntax for this word are all straightforward. No mnemonic needed.

I didnt mean it for kanji bt for reading especially when i dont know readings of that kanjis. I mean that word for violent is easy to remember when i connect it with rambo - ranbo.

乱暴 has a different pitch accent from the name ランボー. Incidentally, ランボー usually refers to Arthur Rimbaud in Japan before the movie hit.
