Hi,


1. 「このアパートは駅から歩いて５分で、まだできてから２年くらいで すよ。」

I suppose まだできてから２年くらいです means "it's still (only) two years old", right?



2. ４人でけっこう飲んで、食べたが、１人２，０００円で 済んだ。

My translation: "Four of us ate and drank well for just 2,000 yen per head" (implying that 2,000 yen is not much).

OK?


3. ２人でやったことなのに、私だけ怒られて、彼は怒られ ずに済んだ。

Does this mean "Although we both did it, only I got told off; he got away without being told off"?


4. This is part of an explanation of なんとか:

「大変だけれど／十分とは言えないけれど、できる／で きた」という意味。

What does 十分とは言えない mean?


5. ひどい事故だったが、なんとか命だけは助かった。

What is the purpose of だけ in this sentence?

4) What is it that is not perfect or not enough? The facilities/resources to do something?

5) So does it mean "It was a terrible accident, and (someone's) life was only just saved", i.e. that person very nearly died?

It's an explanation about なんとか as a reply, right? It means that the speaker thinks what they did is not perfect/enough, what they will do will not be perfect/enough.

Mostly, yes. But even if they are not nearly died, that expression is also used when everything except the life is lost.

4) The example sentences use なんとか in a "manage to do something one way or another" sense, as in なんとか命だけは助かった. Another example is 月に１０万円の収入があれば、なんとかやっていける。I think this is the meaning that is being explained in the 十分とは言えない part.

Incidentally, another sentence is:

難しいとは思いますが、なんとか彼と連絡をとってもらいたんですが。

I'm thinking there is a mistake there somewhere. Should it say もらいたい?

I see. So 十分とは言えない refers to a meaning that １０万円 is not enough (to manage). Of course なんとか means "but I will be able to manage with it". And yes about the typo.
