Hi everyone, first time I use this forum.
I would like to get some help with a sentence I found on the japanese version of The Ring (the book).
I'm not that highly skilled in Japanese, so it might very well be a simple sentence for someone more experienced, thus I apologize if I'm wasting your time.
The sentence I encountered is: 天候のせいでハデに遊ぶこともできず、かといってねっとりとまとわりつく湿気が気持ち悪くて勉強をする気も掛かる。
Now I do understand the first half up to the comma (for context the weather is extremely hot), and the last part from the terrible sensation of the humidity onward.
What I don't get is the section in-between those two.
The lack of ideograms actually makes it very hard for me to understand it.
I assume the first part (かといって) means "on the other hand" or something similar.
ねっとりと should refer to the humidity being sticky, can you guys help me with the rest of it?
Thanks a lot.
