1. 留学生とホテルの受付の会話

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but presumably this means "A conversation with an overseas student at a hotel reception desk"?


2. みなさんは、着ていく服を選ぶ時、どんなことを考えますか。

My translation: "When you are going somewhere and (have to) choose which clothes to wear, what things do you consider?"

In the second sentence, does いく have a literal sense of "go" as I translated?


3. 現在、韓国と日本の政府との間で、教科書問題が両国間にかかわる重要な問題へと発展し ています。

Translation given:"At present the text book issue between the Korean and Japanese governments is developing into a significant problem affecting both countries."

I'm just suffering a little with particle overload in 韓国と日本の政府との間で. I get

韓国と日本の政府 = the Korean and Japanese governments
の間 presumably means "between" (lit. "the between of", though of course that is not proper English)
で possibly again means "between" or "amongst"?

Then I am still left with another と to fit in.


4. それは、いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさがあった。

Translation given: "It was a delightful bit of nonsense."

For the meaning given in the translation, would it more more precise to say それは、いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさだった。?

Yes.

～と～（と）の間＋（で、に、を・・・） all means between ～ and ～.
Particle varies depending on what verb will follow this.

e.g.
韓国と日本の政府との間には教科書問題があります。
韓国と日本の政府の間で教科書問題が重要な問題へと発展しています。

4. それは、いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさがあった。
Yeah...
Though it may depends on the context, the quoted sentence is a bit awkward.
I would say either
いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさがあった。
or
それは、いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさがだった。

1. Aha. I thought something felt wrong, but I did not realise that 受付 was a person!

3. Is it reasonable to think of で as marking the location where the problem is developing? Also, does へと mark that 教科書問題 is developing towards a 重要な問題?

それは、いくぶんナンセンスな趣きの楽しさがだった。

Is there a typo there at the end?

And sorry, it really was my typo. I meant to write 楽しさだった.
Somehow I put unnecessary が in it...
