a) As far as I can tell, this should mean "... I thought your family could not sink any lower", but I cannot see where the sense of "not" comes from.

b) Also, I am a little unsure which よう this is.


2. 「やめんかい、おっさんたら、やめんかい」

What is やめんかい? I guess that the やめ part is something to do with 止む or 止める, but then I'm a bit stuck.


3. ハグリッドが本の山をかき分け、かき分けやってきた。

Why the repetition of かき分け? Any particular reason?


4. 「マルフォイ家のやつらの言うこたぁ、聞く価値がねえ 。」

Does ねえ mean ない?


5. 店員さんがそう言うなら、ブラジャーとパンティーも買ってってやろう。

What does ってやろう signify here?

5) Sorry, I still don't get this, not even who is the subject of the verbs, nor why やろう, nor anything much about it really. Could you shed any more light?

～てやる is a rude/close-friendly way of saying ～てあげる "to give a favor of doing". 買っていく means "to buy it and go to ~", as you would know, so the speaker says that he'll buy it for her and go to her (and give it to her, of course).

Oh I get it now. Unfortunately I was thinking いって = 言って and related to 店員さんがそう言う
