Is つかまされた past passive-causative form of つかむ?


2. 「・・・また余計な仕事ができた！一晩中モップをかけるなんて。これ でもまだ働き足りんとでも言うのか。」

a) Is かける understood as present tense or future?

b) I assume that 働き足りんとでも言うのか means something like "as if I don't (already) have enough work", but I am unclear precisely what これでもまだ means. That is, I cannot assign satisfactorily clear meanings to これ, でも and まだ.


3. 「嘆きのマートル」はいつもよりいっそう大声で — そんな大声が出せるならの話だが — 激しく泣き喚いていた。

Does 話 mean something a bit like "assumption" (i.e. assumption that such a thing is possible)?


4. 「そうだ、ハ、ハ、ハ！なんて愉快なゲームだ — 。どこが愉快だっていうのよ！」

What does the last sentence mean? I recognise the individual words but I cannot grasp the overall meaning in the context.

4) The speaker is complaining that someone has been throwing things at her. She is laughing sarcastically and saying "What an amusing game!", also sarcastically, meaning that she does not think it at all amusing that people should throw things.

I googled it. The whole sentences preceding it "さあ、マートルに本をぶっつけよう！……なんて愉快なゲームだ。" are all the words of the one who threw the book at her.

4) Oh, I read it as if those were all her (Myrtle's) sarcastic words. Is that interpretation not possible?

But in any case, in your interpretation, what does どこが愉快だっていうのよ mean? I still can't figure that out.

Where/What is enjoyable? = Nothing is enjoyable.
It's sarcastic.
