I was reading this text: テキヤ 稼業 で 全国 を 渡り渉く車寅次郎,その 故郷 で ある 東京 の 柴又で 暮らす 妹 さくら と 下町 の 人々. I know that その is demostrative, but i'm doubtful about what's the translation of その in this text.it have another function here?

As in the definition in the dictionary I quoted, その is a (possessive) demonstrative adjective for the topic that is talked about now, and the topic/what is talked about there is 車寅次郎 in your sentence.
