ハグリッドはされるがままに椅子に運ばれ ...

されるがままに puzzles me. Is this される as in passive form of する? Could it mean "while continuing to be treated in the same way" (in this case it would refer to his being carried)? But then I don't understand what が is doing there... Maybe I have it all wrong.

Treat されるがまま as a single unit.

It just means 抵抗せずに......he made no resistance.

I've always taken it as-is and not thought about it. That seems plausible but I am standing by to be told it is a relic from a bygone era.

が is for possession, and any nominalizer is not used for される (passive of する) since this expression is a bit classical, as Mike-san explained.
