皆さん、こんばんは！
お元気ですか。

Hi~! When I say かな, I don't mean the writing system. I mean the end of the sentence particle thing...

Anyways, I was wondering what it meant. And also, what does the end of the sentence particle ~な do? Is it the same as なあ？

Also, are there any others that would be a good idea to know about?

From what I can think of now, there are the ones I know:

か
ね
よ
わ
なあ

...hm. That might be it.

かな means in the same vein of "I guess", "I hope", "maybe" etc.

テストは難しいかな。。。

The test is hard I guess...

私は寝るほうがいいかな。。

I guess I should get some sleep...

I cant really think of more examples to demonstrate this...

なあ I alwasy thought was similar to "isnt it?"

いいなあ "thats good isnt it"

From what I read from genki, 'naa' makes and exclimation of admiration, frustration, etc and usually used when talking to urself.

I found online that 'na' is sorta like 'ne'. And i also fond 'kana' is like 'i wonder if...."

Hmm...

Also, does anyone know any others? I've heard "sa" "zo" "ze" and i think "kai" or something liek that.

In my textbook it says that attaching na to a dictionary form verb makes it a negative imperative. Just keep in mind its rather informal, and rough.

not sure if thats what you were looking for, but it is one of "na"s uses.

I've never heard of those, but I'm probably at a lower level that you anyways.

The ね replacement usage your thinking of is like.

A:はぁ、今日も寒いよ
B:だよな、すぐ暑くなるほうが良い。ああ、ところで夏休みは旅行するか？
A:旅行はいいな、でもできない、しごとから。
B：あ、そうだな。

Na(a) seems to be slightly masculine but can be used by either gender to expresses emotion, to soften a command (a "please, if you will..." feel -- if this isn't the correct read on it let me know. ) and quite a lot to communicate a particular desire/need/wishful thinking etc.

疲れたなあ。
難しいな。。。

降りるところを教えてくださいな。

日本にいたいな（ー）。。
それをやってみたいな

I have no idea about 'za'. But Ze isn't considered particularly stylish or current today which makes it slightly old-fashioned, even snobbish sounding. If you still hear it on anime I wouldn't know....but in the wild mostly around young boys trying to be tough, and some really 'bad' girls.

I'm not sure how current it is or was but its heard from time to time, as you said from tough young boys or some real tomboyish girls in anime. Real life usage is a different kettle of fish I guess.

かい and だい are two different particles that can replace か when asking questions. かい is for a yes or no question while だい is for non-yes/no questions

行くかい？
どこに行くんだい？

Perhaps they are used more frequently in certain regions (kansai?). Regardless, not worth learning how to use at just point, just know if you see them that a question is being asked.

If there was a time when ぜ was a really cool word, I had not yet started studying Japanese then, but it does pop up occassionally to add a little umph to a declaration of or enjoinder to action. Two words it seems to follow are やる（ぜ） and 行こう（ぜ）. But of course other words do the same work...

For the men around here...

かい＝ more intimate sounding common variation on かい for yes/no questions which I've heard indirectly is often used to one's "inferiors" (women, children) and could have a condescending ring.

行ってもいいかい？
これかってほしいかい？

だい＝more colloquial, softer, intimate version of だ（よ） as a sentence-ending particle with descending tone to mark the question.

その間に何するんだよ（だい？！）
いつご飯が出来るんだよ（だい？！）

Generally, かい/だい sounds more "gentle" than か/だ. It's more remarkable in a declarative sentence.

いいかい。よく聞くんだよ。
in "calm down/advice/persuasion" situation, like from father to crying son/daughter (from mother; いい？よく聞いてね。)

いいか。よく聞けよ。
in "angry" situation

終助詞は、実はnon-nativeの人にとってかなり難しいとされてるんですよねぇ。感情に絡む表現だし、性別による差も大きいから、使い間違えると大変で。。。

本当ですね。今でも、終助詞がとても苦手です。

特に、『ね、かな』を使ったらいいかどうか迷った場合は、使わないほうがいいのかな（いいですね）？
というような形を日本語でどんな感じに聞こえるのか私にとってちょっと心配ですよ。

基本的にはていねいな親しみを込めた言い方に聞こえるでしょう？

「．．．使わないほうがいいのかな（いいですね）？」

という言い方それ自体は親しみを込めた言い方だったら、相手が目上の人や初対面の人の場合，「．．．使わないほうがいいでしょうか」が無難でしょう。

誰かをうっかり傷つけたら、言った事で気を悪くしないでください。
悪意を持って言ったと思わないでください。
抑揚や話し手の表情などが見えない分誤解され易いので注意が必要ですね。

そうですね。初対面や目上の人には使わないほうがいいでしょうね。
あと「使わないほうがいいですね？」より「使わないほうがいいですよね？」のほうが誤解される可能性が低いです。「いいですね」は相手に忠告する場面でも使いますから。

まさにその通り！上の例でも、どちらの言い方もイントネーションで意味が変わるから、余計に厄介なんですよねぇ。
