JREF users are in line with the majority of japanese. A recent poll shows that 54% of japanese are against the PM visiting the Yasukuni shrine. According to Mainichi Daily News the public have become opposed to the visits due to the recent revelations that the previous Emperor (Showa) had very strong - but so far pivate - views about the inclusion of the 14 Class-A war criminals: " ...the significant increase in negative opinions of pollees is the recent revelation that Emperor Showa stopped visiting the shrine because he was displeased at the enshrinement of Class-A war criminals there."
