Japanese Rice Tin?

I subscribed to this forum hoping someone could please help me. I am looking for a product that I was told by a friend was a Japanese product. I am looking for a rice container. It is stainless steel (I think) and you store large amounts of rice in it. It has a small dispenser at the bottom, which you can turn to adjust how much rice you want dispensed. You have control over how much is dispensed and is not a pre-defined amount. This is NOT a typrical rice dispenser that is readily available for sale. I wanted to know if anyone knows what I am talking about and can tell me what it is called exactly and any merchant that sells it. I would prefer an online merchant, but any merchant will do. I am trying to buy one for my mother. We are Indian and eat a lot of rice as well and this would be a perfect container for her to store the rice in. Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome and Hajimemashite. I think it is a rice chest or rice dispenser. It is called "米びつ/Komebitsu" in Japanese.

Thanks for the reply, but I tried to conduct a search based upon the name you gave me. The online search yields typical rice dispensers. This is not the metal one with a spout at the bottom, which dispenses a variable amount of rice. Do you know where I could find that one, which I described? Any online merchant? I have been looking for almost two weeks now and have found nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Yeah I tried that, but they are all the square dispensers. The one I am looking for is stainless steal and is a barrell shape with a spout at the bottom, where you control the amount that is being dispensed. I saw it at my friend's house and she said it was given to her by someone long ago and she doesn't know the name for it. Thanks for helping.
