KanjiDraw is a free, browser-based site for learning to read and write Japanese, available in English and Russian with no signup or paywall.

The core is handwriting: you draw kana and kanji with a mouse or finger, and the app checks your stroke order in real time — guided at first, then from memory. Kanji are organised into levels, each worked through in three rounds (recognition, reading, from-memory writing) that mix puzzles, matching and drawing.

Around that sits a full reference and practice set: a dictionary of 6,400+ kanji and 22,000+ words searchable by character, reading, romaji or English meaning; a radical browser that shows how each character is composed; vocabulary collections for JLPT N5–N1, verbs, adjectives and common textbooks, with flashcards, quizzes and audio; grammar lessons that explain how forms are derived; and graded reading texts with native audio, furigana toggle and word-by-word tooltips.

Progress is saved locally and syncs across devices if you sign in.
