Adding on to what @Toritoribe wrote, it appears that this token came from some type of engraving machine, where in addition to the date of your visit you could have your name added. The name on this token is Kato Michihiko (a man with the family name of Kato).
On the back of the token, the writing begins with 黄金の ('golden'), but I can't make out the final character(s). I'll bet someone else here can, though. It kind of looks like 日向.
The credit goes to google. I searched 黄金の日没 NHK and was annoyed when it fed me a ton of results for 黄金の日日 instead...until I noticed the 1978 among the info.
I swear it looks like two different people wrote those characters.
