This month's flowers. Edit--might redo this. At first I thought the yellow flowers seemed blurry since they were at least partly submerged, but when checking, even the ones out of the water across the stone at the bottom are off. Sorry!

Start with the odd one. I passed this window, saw a figurine, and due to reflections put the phone directly against the window. And I was surprised to see these various things. Santa, at least one and maybe two Charlie Chaplins, with Laurel & Hardy up high, and insulation all over. The hair that's barely visible at the bottom (an old, faded poster) is the top of fmr PM Koizumi's head. The plaque in the center, "Thanks, Lord, for making me, Me!" In the back--my guess is an old copy machine.
I don't recognize this person.

What kind of place was it? An old, defunct home/shop of some sort?

Fancy breakfast before I head to the airport. Avocado toast and cortado for ¥1600. Expensive for Japan but that's only $10. At least half price for an equivalent cafe breakfast in the US.
Note the dog. Actually there's three of them. I didn't know that was legal in Japan. Maybe because this isn't a full service restaurant?

Had to google that. (It's 1:1 ratio of milk to espresso, while a flat white is 3:1)

I have never heard this before, either. In France, that's a Café Noisette, in Viennese coffee shops it's a Kleiner Brauner.
How to order a cortado and other coffees in other parts of the world
Black coffeeor coffee with milk could be the most typical ways to order a coffee. But, how to do it in other countries of the world?

Visited Yushima Tenjin Shrine on the last weekend of its plum blossom festival and managed to find a couple blooms.
There were massive numbers of ema -- the votive plaques where people write their wishes -- there. This picture captures perhaps about 1/10 of them.
Later I understand they are burned in a ritual manner where rumor has it the priests roast marshmallows and make s'mores.

No, I always crop a little, and sometimes quite a bit--with a 40MP camera you get away with that given it's sharp to begin with. I only use apple's Photos to edit. On a series like this I'll sometimes do one shot kind of the way I like it, then copy the edits and simply apply that to the rest of the series. Which usually works out pretty well. My camera is a Fujifilm, which has film simulations (I'd have to check what this is), and if I really had my photo poop together I could do what others have tried--work out my own simulation (< the 'recipe' for that) and program it into the camera.
For comparison, and to show the (small? at least here) degree to which I fiddle with things, the first is straight out of camera, just cropped some. Second is same crop with today's edits (and sometimes a day or two, or a month or longer later, I look again and think, "what was I thinking?" and start over...) Shadows a little darker, a little more sharpness and luminance/strength to the colors, etc.
Or, instead of that, reduce the blue cast and warm it up a little:
