Tokyo police officers will soon be sporting shades. 
To enhance officer safety and improve their ability to react quickly in bright conditions, the Metropolitan Police Department has authorized sunglasses for its security and mobile police units. Officers will have the discretion to wear sunglasses based on the situation but will be expected to remove them when interacting with the public. This policy change aims to create a better working environment for officers while maintaining public trust.
