A family from Massachusetts discovered these artefacts among their late father's personal belongings. The collection includes six portraits, a hand-drawn map of Okinawa dating back to the 19th century, and various pieces of pottery and ceramics. These items hold immense significance in Okinawan history. The Boston division of the FBI facilitated the return of these artefacts, which had been missing for nearly 80 years, to the Japanese government and the Okinawa prefecture. A formal repatriation ceremony is planned to honour this momentous event in Japan.
