Hello dear friends,



I just bought this uniform that I've been looking for for years. It's the uniform of a Japanese ambassador but I don't know who he is

I bought it with its carrying case on which there was just the attached label. Maybe it's just a shipping label? with no name?

not understanding Japanese I am unable to know what is written.

Can you help me? Hopefully, the writing will be readable for you.

カヒロ same as above, just spelled differently.

Across the top is a date 11.8.22 which should be Shōwa 11 (1936) August 22nd

If it is Cairo as in Egypt here's a list of the Japanese gov officials to Egypt, About us Looks like there wasn't an Ambassador until 1954 but it could belong to a Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Doesn't ask me what that title means haha

Yes, the owner of the uniform might be 横山正幸 Yokoyama Masayuki, the first Japanese Minister to Egypt. I found his picture in 1939 (the left one).

Just by Google searching. I got Yokoyama's kanji name from a wikipedia page, and found a tweet containing the photo by googling with his kanji name 横山正幸.

The writer of the tweet said that the photo was taken at a wedding of Mohammad Shah Pahlavi in 1939. The right man in the photo, who was a Japanese diplomat in Iran at the time, is his grandfather. (The center is Lieutenant General Anami Korechika.)
