Yayoi look-alike contest

Last Saturday, Tottori Prefecture held a Yayoi look-alike contest, awarding a salesperson from Osaka whose face resembles one reconstructed from the DNA of a skull excavated at ruins from the Yayoi period. The Tottori Prefectural Government had received 215 submissions, and 10 finalists across the country were invited to the event on May 28.

The prefectural government will consider inviting Yoshida to become its PR ambassador for future ruins-related events. The competition was held at a venue in the city's Aoya district, near the Yayoi ruins. Ten finalists showed up on the stage as if they were real Yayoi people, and gave performances including dancing, doing a skit and playing the guitar for two minutes each to show how they resemble a Yayoi man.
