Hey everyone~! How are you guys? In the mail two days ago I received my "The Brilliant Green Singles Collection 97-08" in the mail from Japan. I've loved Buriguri since I went to high school after hearing the song "Angel Song -Eve no kane-" almost 6 or 7 years ago now. I was able to track down a couple of their albums since then and still listen to them constantly on my MP3 player. Tommy-chan's voice still captivates me after all this time.
This year they released their comback single "Stand by Me" as well as wrote "Ash like Snow" for the new Gundam 00 anime. Currently they're working on the next album which is expected by the end of the year. I look forward to it very much!
The songs on the CD all brought back memories some of my favourites on the best of CD include Tsumetai hana (cold flower), Forever to me, Bye! My Boy!, Sono Speed de (at that speed), There will be Love there, Bye bye Mr Mug, Stand by Me, Ash Like snow and Call my name. In fact all of them are pretty good since all the songs were A-sides on all 17 of their past singles from 1997 to 2008. Its a good buy if you just wanna hear all their singles but I was disappointed with the lack of live tracks...since I love listening to Buriguri live. If you own all the Buriguri albums theres nothing new in the best of but you'll probably get it anyway if your a big fan (like me~!). Its also a good CD for the uninitiated.
Today I also had my interview with the Japanese Exchange panel and I think it went OK...I made Hiroko Hashimoto-sensei laugh when I confessed I fell in love with anime watching bishoujo senshi Seraa muun (She asked me what the first anime I watched was...). They were also interested in what kind of work I would want to do when I came back and what sort of research I was interested in.
I havent really thought about it much as of late...but to be honest I have a big interest in two issues in Japan right now. The so called "hikikkomori" or teenagers/adults that choose to lock themselves away from society...and the issue of immigration as a solution to Japan's shrinking population. I'm also interested in foreigners who choose to be naturalised in Japan and what the naturalisation process involves.
Granted my time to research is probably a long way away...since I can barely read the language well enough beyond even an elementary level ><;; I guess I have to keep studying huh?
Well until next time
Ja mata kondo desu ne.
