What is your everyday food?

Hi everyone! I want to ask about what people in Japan cook in their daily routine. I love Japanese food, but making/cooking one takes a lot of preparation, and I don't have a lot of time for it since I am working. I was wondering how the Japanese people do it, what they cook for everyday consumption, basically their personal daily menu. Because if they can make it everyday so it must be quick to prepare, especially families with kids! I love it when they sit together for a meal and they enjoy mom's cooking.
Thanks! This will help me a lot! I have a husband to feed too! :)

I know this is kind of old entry, but I am new here and just curising around. Couldn't help it but smile at your last sentence - sounded like "my dog is hungry" - of course, I don't mean to insult you, please, don't take it that way.
I can't give you any helpful info on this subject, just remembered how guilty and ashamed I felt when I read an article about how japanese people prepared lunch boxes for their kids (I believe the word was something like "bento", but I would not bet my life on it - don't speak Japanese). The article stated that they put a lot of effort into preparing this and its almost an art form, and a way of competing as of which kid has the "best parents". If that is true, I am like billion of years back in the dark ages - using about 4,8 minutes to put together a lunch box :\
Best wishes,
- Shantal
