Does anybody know the name of the font used in the image above?
Is it popular in Japan?

I haven't found the proper font, but I got big image with all the characters I needed. Problem partially solved :D

Now, I am looking for this font:
logo_co.gif

Any ideas?

Yeah, contact the companies whose logos these are and ask them what fonts they used....
I already see the response in my mail box... -_-

Another unfindable font:

Why don't they use normal fonts? o_O

The first one (FUJI TV CLUB) is some kind of modified Handel Gothic D.

Do you really read my reply in my initial post?
It's almost impossible to identify the exact name of the font since there are countless fonts in Japanese

What does "normal fonts" refer to? Do you think there is a common font used in most Japanese companies' logos?

That's exactly what I answered...

I would actually be surprised if a company designed their logo using an off-the-shelf font (or a free font, for that matter). Isn't it far more likely that the company designs its logo using a graphic designer? I mean, its like asking what font Warner Bros. uses for the "WB" in their logo. It's not really a "font" at all. Rather, its a unique design, formulated specifically for use a the company's logo. It's not intended to be used as a computer font that can then be used to type out other texts.

The best you will be able to do is to find similar-looking true-type or MS fonts.

I am asking questions just to ignore the answers.

I think that there are popular fonts, which COULD be used in logos - that would make my life easier.

I haven't seen "Handel Gothic D" font name in your post. I checked the links you posted a couple of times and I haven't found anything.

As for now, I am not researching how logos were made. I just need to make a couple of them in BIG resolution. I already found the name of one similar font, but I cannot find the font itself. I used MS PGothic and PJ Katakana for temporal versions.

I am still looking for fonts as similar as possible.

Yes, he understands that. The point he was making is that you might not be able to find the fonts anywhere, as they may be custom designs that are not available for use other than by the company that paid to have them designed. In other words, there may not be such a font in existence for purchase or otherwise.

Do you only need the specific characters appearing in those logos, or do you also need other characters not in the logos? I'm assuming you need other characters, too, but if not, then there are shortcuts available.

Some websites offer services where you can attempt to identify a font either by uploading a sample or by answering a series of specific questions about the particular shape of characters in the font. However, the sites like this which I checked either only work with the Roman alphabet, or are mostly focused on hiragana instead of katakana.

Finally, what is the name of the font that you couldn't find?

So, you are saying that "Handel Gothic D" is not a kind of ポップ体 or ゴシック体, and the pages I linked include all kinds of ポップ体 and ゴシック体, not just examples. Well, well.

Those are two sentences. One says that you haven't posted the exact name of the font and the second one says that I haven't found the font I was looking for on pages you linked. This means that I am the one who failed here.

By the way, Handel Gothic D does not support kanji/kana :(

As for now, I only need to make two logos: Nippon Columbia and Toei Animation.

I've tried one - it failed to recognize even Roman letters (I tried with two different fonts)

シーアンドジイ カナフェイス ボンジュール (I'm not sure if I copied the proper part...)。It looks like this:

The image you inserted comes from a website that sells this font, so I am not sure why you claim you couldn't find it.
Anyway, converted to English, the font name you provided is C&G Kanaface Bonjour. C&G is the maker, Kanaface is the name of a collection of 44 different fonts they offer, and Bonjour is one of those fonts. You can buy the Bonjour font individually (i.e., without the other 43 fonts of the Kanaface collection) for about 700 yen on several different websites, including templatebank.com, which is where your inserted image comes from (カナフェイス ボンジュール - シーアンドジイ | フォント ダウンロード販売 Unfortunately, this font may only be available for purchase from Japanese-language-only websites, which means you will probably need to get someone to help you obtain it.

I took the Columbia and Toei logos and converted them into a vector format, which can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. Unfortunately, the source images were quite low-res, so the vector formats have artifacts that may be undesirable, making these files unusable, depending on the intended application. For both of the logos, the text part and the image part are in separate files. I was able to find hi-res versions of both images, so those parts are of high quality. The file format is SVG, which is a vector format. Various open source software out there can work with this format. Everything is placed together in a single zip file.
If you can use any of these files, then freely do so.

I tried to vectorize them, but it gave a little bit worse effect than your work. Of course, I have all the graphics. It wasn't hard to find them.

Unfortunately, I cannot use those vectorized versions. All the other logos I made are in much higher resolution and they are perfect copies of the original logos (some are original). It seems that I need to stay with the font I am using now.

Thanks for your effort!
