I am a bit hesitant to help answer questions here, because I feel like I might give someone bad information and cause them more trouble later on. Should I just attempt to answer what I think I know?

The only area of human endeavor in which zeal and enthusiasm are accepted substitutes for knowledge, skill, and experience is sex.

You should feel free to post questions, answers, comments, or whatever else you like. The only caveat is that you need to be okay with having someone come along behind you and correct any places where you may have given a bum answer on something and not let it hurt your feelings or discourage you.

If you wait until you don't make mistakes yourself anymore before you start answering questions, you'll never get to answer a question.

That could be true except for the fact that more knowledgeable members are likely to notice your mistakes and point them out. So it becomes a learning opportunity for you too. Feel free to respond.

You forgot politics.

I think the most helpful thing to those you're answering would be the certainty of your answer. Like if you're answering a question for something you just learned or from a source you don't know is correct you may want to mention that.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will try answering what I know from now on. :)
