Disabling hq filter while setting screen size to x4 provides pleasant results

Well, tastes differ i guess. Just one more question. Did you play actual famicon/NES back in the days, or are you only familiar with it through emulators?

I owned a NES back in the day at the end of it's period, although it was not my favorite system (I didn't have many games for it, Duck Hunt and Mario IIRC).

I bought a physical copy of God Slayer (and many more to learn from, including snes, megadrive, and saturn games). I also have actual controllers for the old consoles that I can use on my PC. I play God Slayer with an actual NES looking controller So it doesn't feel too emulated despite the graphics looking IMHO better (one of the benefits of emulation).

I am disappointed with how long it is taking me to get through this game, but that's just because of life stuff.

How can you tell the difference between the two meanings of 娘 in actual usage?

娘 has a bit classical nuance as "young woman in general", so it's used mostly in fantasy, fairly tails or period dramas. 若い女性, 女の子 or like that would be more common in recent days.
Incidentally, 島 can be both "the speaker's island" and "the neighbor island" in that sentence. Only the context shows which interpretation is correct.

What does 身代わり役 mean? I may have used the wrong kanji for やく, but it sort of looks like "sacrificial role/duty". And thee verb after it is hard to figure out since I don't fully understand what it's object means.

The verb would be 買う, so ...役を買う would be "take on the role of ...". More specifically I'm guessing it's (close to) the second meaning mentioned on goo辞書.

身代わりの英語・英訳 - goo辞書 英和和英
身代わり役 refers to a substitute for a young woman as a sacrifice at that time. Thus, your interpretation "sacrificial role/duty" is correct as a result.

The meaning of 買う is the definition #3 "進んで引き受ける。「売られた喧嘩 (けんか) を―・う」" here.
出る means "to deal with somebody in an attitude", so 役を買って出る is an emphasized form of "to take on the role".

～てくれる: to do a favor of doing for me/us

I don't remember if I wrote the sentence including Clark here or not but he went to see the "evil spirit tower" and never returned.

I guess Ralph's daughter could have said this but her name "おんなのひと" doesn't make that clear (but she is roaming around Ralph's house).

Is this だって the particle that is similar to でも? Looking at it's definitions I see these possibilities:

3. even
4. too; as well; also
5. they say; I hear; you mean

But as far as I can tell it could be any of those meanings but I would say it is number 4.

I, too, think it's #4, but #3 is also possible. Probably the meaning is overlapping between those two definitions.
#5 is applied only when used as a sentence final particle (e.g. 殺されたのはクラークおじさんだって。).

I hate sacrifices! Clark must already be dead too.

Is that accurate?

生贄なんて means 生贄になるなんて/されるなんて there, i.e., she said I don't want to be a sacrifice.
