The author is writing to a friend hideosan who sent him a japanese cook book.
He writes.
もっとうまく作れるようになったら、 ひでおさんにもごちそうしなすね。ぜひ、食べに来てください。

why does it use にも not just に
It doesn't mean also in this case does it?
I thought the intention of the author was.........
When I am more skilled at cooking (preparing the food etc) i will treat you (make dinner for you) please come and eat.
よろしくお願いします

Hint

They live enough distant that Hideo is not one of the people the recipient would normally be able to cook for.

Oh so he is saying the food will be so good that it even though his friend is far away it will be worth the trouble. Is that the feeling?

No. The も means "also" here. He can cook from the recipes for his family and those near him (for example 友達にご馳走する) and they can eat the crap he turns out while he's still not good at it.

The trouble you have here is that even though we have a use of "also/too", in Japanese there are instances (like this one) where it isn't necessary to explicitly mention who or what the "also/too" is meant to be in addition to. Just one more in the long list of things Japanese leaves you to figure out by context.

Thanks mikesan. I can understand what your saying, but I hope it becomes easier to infer things after more exposure.
If it is true that the food he is producing now is crap (Ha ha) I pity his friends or family because he says shortly after.....
次は天ぷらを作ろうと思っています。
oh well 作れば作るほどますます上手になる。
