I am trying to find a name that is cute/beautiful/sensual for girls that are bird inspired, if possible woodpecker.
But please post any names that fall under the heading.

My attempt was -> Kitsutsukimi (sure it is a horrible attempt and unelegent) Please help me out.

Here you have 1900 names that include the bird kanji 鳥 (though the list also includes surnames and place names). E.g. 遊鳥 "Asuka", "playful bird". Cute or sensual depending on how you interpret the "playful" I suppose (I don't know how Japanese view it).

As for woodpeckers, this word is written as 啄木鳥 in kanji (peck/tree/bird). There are a handful of names that include the first "pecking" character, e.g. 啄美 "Takumi", "peck/beautiful".

I included sensual mainly because a friend of mine is studying Japanese and he told me about a name, Izanami I think it was, which is i think inviting female or female who invites, which I find super cute and well suggestive...

My frind just told me that he'd translate Asuaka to "tommorow fragrance". Is he wrong?

Your friend is apparently not aware that the same name can be spelled in many different ways in Japanese, where each spelling has its own meaning. I'm guessing he's talking about the 明香 ("bright fragrance") spelling, where the first character is also used in 明日 "tomorrow" ("bright day").

Edit: ah yes, apparently 明日香 is also valid.

That was it, I sent him the exact Kanji and he figured it out, seems that popular is the 明日香

Another theory is that 飛鳥の[Tobu tori no] is 枕詞 of 明日香, which was the original kanji of Asuka, so 飛鳥 became to be read as Asuka later.
遊鳥 is just a coined one that is made from 飛鳥.

That is very interesting, so Asuka is in a way related to the Hornbill bird.
But theres always another way to tell the tale I guess.
