While reviewing some material for the jlpt , I got a little bit confused in this one:

悩み _____、結局、彼は真実を話した。

1-かけて
2-ぬいて
3-えて
4-限って

Since I dont own the list of answers for this book specificaly, I can't check if my answer [ぬいて] Is correct, so, I'd like to ask for a little help here.

In my comprehension [ぬいて] here fits better because if the sentence is supposed to sound closer to something around the lines of
"(I) was worried the whole time(till the end), but afterall, he was telling the truth."

But again, I feel like a more experienced input here is ideal since I dont feel "secure" enough to state what this sentence is supposed to mean. Sorry for bothering and thank you once again for the help.

ぬいて is correct, but the subject of the first clause is also "he".

Thank you Toritoribe, though, your clarification of the subject makes me feel anxious, my inability to properly figure out subjects in japanese clauses is astonishing

The topic covers the entire sentence(well, at least in most cases). When the subjects are different in the two clauses, it usually is stated.
e.g.
私が悩みぬいていたので、結局、彼は真実を話した。
彼は、私が悩みぬいていたので、結局真実を話した。

さすがトリトリベさん、いつもためになるお話、ありがとうございます。
