Doesn't Communism deny the existence of gods or heaven? If so, where does the "legitimacy" come from?
In Europe in the Middle Ages, many people likewise believed that the king's mandate to rule came from God. (A most convenient proposition for kings and their minions.) Most modern Westerners would say that God does not choose kings, and that an unelected government is always illegitimate.
