MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

Sad to hear about your news, Sat :( Let's hope at least someone can take your place (Good luck vortexmaster, let us know when you get the feedbak) Try to think about it next year!

So the list goes like this:

Bulgaria
Burkina Faso
Germany
Hong kong
Indonesia
Iraq
Malaysia
Peru
Poland
Romania
Russia
Serbia
South Africa
Spain
Tanzania
Vietnam

16 countries and counting!!!:p

Random question: has any of you applied to make a research in the humanitarian fields like me? I have the feeling that almost everyone applying for this scholarship is specializing in science/engineering/medicine. I wonder if MEXT considers humanitarian programs as not trustworthy.
hey!i am applying for a humatarian master,i think the essential thing is that you have a backround research since the humanitarian fields are as important as the scientific ones :p

congratulation for those who get good news and I wish you the best in Japan.Unfortunatly I was rejected but I still hoping and never give up.I will try next year also.you can update the list in adding Burkina Faso my country. Thanks for all the things I learn with you in this forum.

You are Ahmed not MEXT so do not worry, but just they take along time till now and no one of the candidate in Egypt has any news about the secondary screening.................. Do you think there is a hope....:confused::confused::frown::frown:😭😭😭

There is always a hope,
:smoke:
But the only hope for me is "exclusion of the Egyptian candidates from the cuts"
This is nearly impossible, isn't it??
:smoke:

I feel deeply hurted by these cuts.:p

Hello everyone,

I have just received news by snail mail from the embassy that I am accepted "in principle" with regards to the 2ndary screening. Am not too sure what this means but at least its one step in a positive direction. Thank you all for waiting with me. Its comforting to know that we are all in this together!:-)

For those who are still waiting, please do not give up hope. YYK I am rooting for you as well!! I really wish we can all meet in Japan next year. For those who will try for MEXT next year, keep your head held high and I hope you will definitely get the outcome you desire!

Great News!!! Congratulations!!! It's good to think that this christmas present will last all your life 👍
Shenoo, we are on the same boat! I am tired of waiting :( Don't lose your hope!!!
I wish I can put Argentina in the top of the list SOON!!! (It's in alphabetical order 😌)
ykk, actually Hong Kong embassy has no news. It's just that the professor in kyoto U informed me about this just because I asked my professor. For the results in HK, they told me before that they will only tell us the final result on Feb of next year...
Waiting for your good news, ykk

Sry for your bad news, sat and ben. Happy for ya, jophilla, we've talked in msn group months ago.

@Jophilia, Congratulations!!! I can't believe they still use snail mail to such important notifications, It kills me to know my well-awaited-news is still in Mr. postman's bag!!! I hope I get the news by email or phone.

Congratulations to jophillia and benhlandau who got some kind of good news. Being an alternate is not the best (I was an alternate too) but there is still hope!!! and for jophillia, let's hope the "in principle" last until "the end" and you get a full-full notification soon.

Ok so HK goes out until a proper notification of the embassy is made, and Canada and Singapore go in:

Bulgaria
Burkina Faso
Canada
Egypt
Germany
Indonesia
Iraq
Malaysia
Peru
Poland
Romania
Russia
Serbia
Singapore
South Africa
Spain
Tanzania
Vietnam

Thank you for cheering for me guys, everyone in this forum is so nice showing their affection, I am really glad all of you are helping me cope with it. A big THANK YOU to you all and believe me, when I get the news I'll post it ASAP!!!

Shenoo, did your embassy send to MEXT the usual number of recommended candidates as in previous years?
The thing is, MEXT usually doesn't decide who'll be a regular and who'll be a substitute candidate at the second screening. This is decided by the embassies, before they sent the documents to MEXT. So, if the embassy in Egypt was informed about the cuts, they should have told you back then.

I don't want to think that MEXT asked the embassies to recommend less candidates and then did YET another cut of the regular candidates. >_<

From the evidence I am inclined to believe that someone (MEXT or the embassy) made a cut by sending less regular applicants and some of the rest becoming alternate. With this, I think, there would not be another cut.
What does it mean "cancellations" ? and etc? and why until June 2011?

cancellations means someone who passed the second screening decided to not take the scholarship, etc means other causes :)
I have read about the alternate thing in mext 2010 thread, someone posted that he was an alternate and then around june/july he was notified that he got the scholarship and required to depart to Japan in October 2010. I think maybe they want to make certain that the one who cancel the scholarship really cancel / don't want it until they give it to someone else...

The strength we all derive from reading these write-ups is incredible! i thank all those who before-hand had won this prestigious scholarship for their seasoned contributions. for the comrades who had heard the best news of the year i commend your thrust. For those whose news had placed them on their thinking feet, i sincerely hope those news are re-confirmed positive. Big tribute to those who seem to have fallen, no you have not, simply you have learnt a way of not passing MEXT; this wealth of experience would drive you faster on the very lane of life............and to us still waiting, the anxiety may seem high and we only hope for the best of news. My biggest thanks goes to Japanese TAX payers and thier benevolent government...........if all the countries in the world offer this privilege, we would have a world of light where no darkness can lurk............i am still.................a MEXT applicant like you all.
