My dharma name (hōmyō, 法名) is Jōji (盛慈), which means 'thriving compassion', and I am a recently ordained monk in the Buzan lineage of Shingon Buddhism . I am the first American to receive this honor.

I also am interested in builiding and engaging in an internet community, sangha, of Buddhist supporters that promote the cultivation and articulation of Buddhist values and sensibilities for the benefit of individuals and the world as a whole. At the moment, my objective is, to first, reaffirm the Buddhist practices of no-self and compassion that are vital to the creation of both academic and religious Buddhist professionals and a prosperous sangha. These professionals are essential to the continued growth and development of Buddhism thought, practice, art and culture. Furthermore, they provide inspiration to all sentient beings with their struggle to achieve the ultimate perfection in the state of enlightenment.

Welcome.

Can you explain Buddism to me. I don't know if I understand it being Christian.

Would you say that you worship one god or multiple god. What is the main meaning of being buddist? What do you get out of it?

Quit thinking and empty your mind..........then........

spend the rest of your life trying not to understand. KATZ !! It reminds me of magic , all smoke and mirrors and mind boggling. It will be nice to have a member here who can help us enlighten ourselves.
If I ever could be granted 1 wish, it would be for a key to turn my brain/thoughts off. I feel the only hope to empty my head of thoughts is brain liposuction.

I see what you mean. Thanks for that explanation.

Buddhism doesn't worship a diety and in some discriptions has been called an atheistic religion. I suggest a thread elsewhere is created for this conversation to continue, as this is a member introduction thread. I should also point out that we have several buddhist member or those that have studied it as well as our new member here; Revanant and Buntaro come immediately to mind.

As to Monk in the Making. Welcome and peace be with you. Hope you have fun in the forum. Have a welcome gift to the forum.
