Now, I would like to send an email in Japanese...

I would just like to know if _____ is ok. I am really worried about her.

Im sorry if I am asking so much but im very very worried about the well-being of this person... If i don't receive a reply from this mail I am about to send them, I will be taking the next flight to Japan. This is how serious my situation is..

彼女(の健康)を大変心配しています。 <--(As I would have said. Both seem like standard approaches, so no comment on the difference between these two examples).

電話がつながりにくくて、聞き取りずらかっただろうと思います。(Hehe...far more likely to be heard for "difficult to talk" than my form お電話が遠かったようです with a meaningless よう following the past tense.）

The only way this was a life-or-death situation was if the call were to prevent a murder, suicide, or to give/get some vital information about a drug or allergy.

A call just to ask if someone is OK, regardless of the circumstances, is not a life-or-death situation.

Clarification from the OP would be nice, but I have a sneaking suspicion we will never see him again.

He could simply have a preference for vagueness. ＿＿＿が死んでいるか生きているか私は分からない。shows less established etiquette I suppose.


Oh, well. Just remember, it takes more time to fly to Japan than to travel somewhere in Canada for a reasonable connection.
