"A bullet-proof hooded top designed to protect against street violence has been made by an east London firm.

The £300 "Defender" top will stop 9mm Magnum handgun bullets, according to the manufacturer Bladerunner, which also makes slash-proof vests.

Owner Barry Samms denied the hoodie was targeted at teenage gang members and said it was primarily aimed at US customers concerned about gun violence";

Eh, i think thats pretty cool, wouldn't mind getting one myself 😊 . Not that crime is a problem in my area or anything like that, but you gotta admit that if you were wearing a bullet-proof or slash-proof hoodie then you would feel a little bit safer walking down a quiet street in the dark etc :) ?

I don't think that these hoodies will encourage gun crimes and stuff, i think they'll simply help reduce the amount of people dying from gun and knife attacks- the makers of these hoodies had good motives in mind and i think they should be encouraged and helped rather than criticized; certain rap and hip hop singers do much more to encourage gang culture than what these hoodies ever will do.

What do you think :) ? Would you buy one of these hoodies (particularly if say the price went down a lot) :) ?

I'm more concerned about someone with a knife than a gun, but either way, I think it bodes ill of society when normal citizens start wearing body armor just to go out.

Well, normally someone with a killing intent doesn't aim for the head to begin with, besides, imagine someone getting shot in the head with that hood on, there's no way that he'll stay conscious, and the attacker will do as he pleases later.
Btw, grats on 3000 nice gaijin.

Ive always wondered why that is. BPV's cover only the chest and people always seem to aim there with intent to kill, but why not the legs/head. Those would be sure-fire ways to kill ;;>.>

Good guy or bad guy, most people faced with shooting another person are so nervous, they are very lucky if they hit them anywhere. Most professionals (cops/military) are trained to shoot for center mass(the heart area) because it's the biggest target to aim at. Even the best professional shooters use the triple-tap system, two shots at the chest area and then one at the head. Putting a person down & out is not always easy, many take multiple hits and still fight back. The human body, fueled by drugs, alcohol, or adrenaline, can take an amazing ammount of damage and still keep going.

Thats why they should make rocket launchers standard weaponry for cops.
