Check out the link and check out the month of each year as they showcase the various lunch box bento artwork done by these devoted mothers for their screaming little spoiled rotten kids LOL :D
Additional examples are found on this link:

I suppose some would think this should go in a different area, but I think bento art should be a universal discussion thread of the creativity of some people :p

Very clever!!

Thanks for shareing the links, I really enjoyed seeing such neat ideas.

Yeah, I remember seeing some really creative examples firsthand when I used to work part-time on Saturdays at an International School. One mom in particular always made cute little edible faces for her daughter's lunch using mini riceballs, veggies, sausages, etc. Very cute. 8-)

I am also teaching at an Internation school, and it's sometimes just crazy to see what these kids have inside their bento, and how it is made. Nori cut in pieces so they become heart formed shapes, etc.

Yep, I've made some of those for about 10 years of my life... 😌

Although I wasn't keen on artsy bento (greater emphasis on color and nutrition, though), I've tried making apple rabbits, sausage octopus, etc., when the kids were small and cooked more meat and more rice (meaning larger bento boxes) as they grew older... My daughter liked greater color, and my son liked it bigger.

A conversation between me and my son (still in high school):
Me: How do you like your o-bento tomorrow?
Son: I like it brown. (meaning meat) :D

Are those actual lunches made for actual children?!?! If so, while the lunches are undoubtedly quite creative, I really do think the time spent creating them could be used better.

I watched a tv programme featuring these creative bentos!
Boy was I surprised!
My mum is a great cook but I never had a obento like these when I was a school girl😌
She used to make Nori-bento two-layered, though:-)

I made Nori-ben, too... 👍

I did that when there wasn't a decent variety of foods to pack for lunch. The kids didn't complain because they loved it. 😌

Yeah, kids at that age have short attention spans. Trying to get them to sit down and actually *eat* their food as opposed to playing with it for a solid 15-20 minutes is harder than one might think... A little bit of mom's creative genius can go a long ways.
