I`m from Peru but currently living in japan.
I`m going back to my country next year, but have the intention of returning to japan for college.
I`m really interested in the ToDai, but i haven`t been able to collect much information about it (aside from it`s program of courses).
I know it`s one of the top 3 universities of Japan and that apparently they don`t accept students over the age of 18.
Oh, by the way, do you know if this last thing is true?
I would REALLY appreciate any kind of information.
Well, that`s it....
Thaks for your time!!!

But it says nothing about maximum age.
Is it true that they don`t accept students over the age of 18?

Thanks again!!!

I don't think so.

Because there are many Japanese who failed the entrance exam and tried again (and again) before they eventually passed it and enter the university.
And if you're really serious, why don't you make an inquiry to the university?
That is the best way to get the accurate information. :)

I know for certain that the bit about Todai not accepting students over the age of 18 is incorrect. I know 2 people that have become Ronin in an attempt to get into Todai, and they are both over 18.

I'm not too familiar with the foreign exchange program at Todai, but it seems it will be much more difficult to get into Todai, even as an exchange student, compared to another top university such as Waseda. I understand that Waseda has a very prominent foreign student exchange program (that isn't so difficult to get into), and if you are looking to go to Japan to study at a "Top Japanese University", I would consider there as well. Getting accepted as a regular, non-exchange student at either university will be extremely difficult.

Good luck with your endeavor!

Having applied to Toudai and Waseda as a MEXT scholarship applicant for the coming year, I will tell you that though I succeeded in both it seemed quite a bit harder to get into Toudai than Waseda, so zeroyon is probably correct on that point.
