I am looking for work on a militry base in okinawa. I currently work for DOD as a contractor and I also am eligible for reinstatement. I have several years experience in logistics, contract post award, and customer analyisis. I also have several years experience teaching.
Is there anyone out there that can help me with a position on Kedena, Foster, or some other base. I was on Kadena in July so I am know a little about it. Thanks.

Jackie

Re: Jobs on military bases in Okinawa

Hi Jackie,
Glad to hear you are looking at work in Okinawa . For a comprehensive listing of current jobs available at the various military bases, including Camp Foster, Camp Butler, Kadena Air Base, etc. check out the following website:
time2pcs.com/8%20-%20Where%20do%20I%20find%20a/Homefind.htm

You will find links there to the most current listings for jobs available at the following organizations/functions:
- MCCS (Marine Corps Community Services)
- Spouses to Teachers program
- 18th Services job openings
- AAFES job listings
- Family Child Care Provider information
- Kadena AB Human Resources Office (HRO) & NAF (Non-Appropriated Funds) jobs
- Help wanted listings posted on Japan Update
With your background, I would probably look at the MCCS positions, as well as the USA jobs link. There are teacher links as well, though I need to add some for DoDD schools. . . check that out here:

Google for PACAF and DoDD, then click jobs available.
You will see there that they have 3 jobs currently open at Torii Station, which is about 4 miles north of Kadena AB and is a beautiful location. Check out some pictures of Torii station on the website mentioned at the top.

Lastly, if you find any other job links, do let me know so we can keep this webpage updated and useful for everyone.

Hope this helps in your search!

of you could just PM me if you want...I've never heard of the other website.

Trying again on the link

Here's a go at it again - website to check out with current links to jobs in Okinawa is w ww.time2pcs.com. Then click on "where do I find" link and then on "jobs". Hope this helps.
Any other questions, just kick me a PM.

You know, I took a look at your site and since it doesn't seem to be commercial in nature and instead appears to be created out of a genuine desire to help folks PCSing into Okinawa, I really admire what you're doing there.

But I still have to say that using the majority of your participation here to vacuum folks over there is just a tad bit......well.....tacky. I'm sure we'd love to hear from you lots on lots of different things and will all enjoy having you around. Perhaps you might think of putting a text link or a small banner link to your site in your signature?

Jackie, I want to mention that the waiting list is looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong. Usually the Okinawan Nationals are first in line and right now at this moment are dozens and dozens of Okinawans ahead of you wanting to get a job on base.

All I can say is....find a good contact that will hook you up and good luck!

Military jobs in Okinawa

You know,
Great suggestion that you made to add a sublink to my header. I have added a textlink to my nametag.
Nevertheless, this textlink would not have answered the initial question about finding jobs in Okinawa. I would have still answered the question for the lady as I did. My sole objective was to provide her a link without pulling all the data off of that entire page and spilling it over multiple pages on a text only interface.
Re: your suggestion - Given you have 4,000 posts on this site, and that I only have five, it is pretty easy to make a broad-sweeping statement as you do that the "majority of your participation here is to vacuum folks over there". My apologies that the first several posts I made happened to try and help people out - fact was that I saw they were looking for jobs and knew of some great links to help them out.
If you actually "vacuum yourself over there", you will see (as you did) that the website immediately sends them on to links not associated with my site. Not exactly what I would call a vacuum - more like a concierge. It is an attempt to save folks hours and hours of research on the internet trying to find a job in Okinawa.
Funny thing to me is, you could have been much more personable with your suggestion and sent me an email directly. I find it, just a tad bit.....well....tacky...to slam somebody with such a broadbrush as you did, instead of emailing them a personal note.

Please break up your paragraph so that people can read it! Good Lord that is a mess!

As for "spending hours and hours" looking for jobs on Okinawa...it only takes about 3 minutes if you are halfway intelligent.

Mike doesnt have the capabilities of editing other people's posts. You might want to talk to a moderator or admin about that one Time2PCS.

I am not one for making great use of the personal message system. As a general thing I don't like to receive them and also don't like to send them. Depending on the person and the circumstance I don't mind, but this didn't fit the bill.

I thought I was polite and courteous to the point of being obsequiously solicitous. I do genuinely hope to see you participating with us on a wide variety of topics and sincerely appreciate the help you are offering to American military members (and their families) who are PCSing to Okinawa.

And once you have been around us a while longer and come to know us a little better, you will perhaps come to understand that a clarification is about as close as I ever come to an apology on the internet. Looking forward to seeing you around. You seem like a very nice person.
